Writing a Blog Post that Resonates with Your Readers

blogging

You have probably read quite a bit about the difficulty that writers have when they actually have to sit down to write a blog. You may be faced with a block or you may be able to crank something out but then very few people are interested in reading it when you do. You need to write blogs that resonate with your readers.

The different ways that you can make it happen

Choose a topic about which you are passionate

There are several different ways in which you can approach your blog writing so that it resonates with the people who will be reading it. It is actually a formula that is quite simple and, if you use that formula, it will work for you over and over again.

The first thing that you need to do is to choose a topic that interests you. If the topic doesn’t interest you, it won’t interest your readers either. If you are passionate about your topic, it will come through in your writing and other people will get excited by what you are saying. If you aren’t sure about which topic(s) you want to choose, it might be a good idea to sit quietly and think about what really excites you. The ideas will definitely come to you.

The passion that you feel for that particular topic (once you start writing) will come through and other people will feel it too and they will be excited as well. On the other hand, if you are not excited about your topic, other people will not be excited either. In that case, the writing will lack enthusiasm and spark.

Write the appropriate length blog post (not too long and not too short)

When it comes to the length of your blog, a good rule of thumb is between 500 and 1,000 words. If the blog post is too short, the reader will feel that they want to know more and your writing has left them unsatisfied. On the other hand, if your blog is very long, people may become impatient and they may not read the entire article. You definitely don’t want that to happen. In fact, you not only want your readers to read the entire blog post but you want them to be hungry for other content that you have written. That is how you lay the foundation for the relationship that you will share with the other person.

If you are reading this and thinking that it is very difficult to come up with a blog post that is between 500 and 1,000 words in length, you may be surprised when you actually sit down to write. You can probably come up with that length without really trying. Once your writing starts to flow, it will be almost effortless.

As a word of caution, you want to keep your blog post at a reasonable length because we are in an age where people don’t have time or patience. They want to read content that is quick and easy so that they can get the gist of whatever you are trying to say without spending too much time or effort.

Make sure that your blog post has headlines on each section

Headlines in your blog posts are extremely important because they demonstrate that your writing is organized and they draw the attention of the reader to the important points that you are trying to make. You definitely do not want to write one continuous article with no stops. That would make it very difficult on the reader and they may not have to patience to plod through to the end.

You want separate your blog post into logical sections that flow into each other with a clear progression. Another really good reason to use headlines in your blog posts is for the purposes of your rankings in the search engines. Of course, you want to achieve high rankings in the search engine’s pages so that people will find you easily (more easily than your competition). If you can manage to accomplish that, you will get to where you want to be in no time.

Choose your keywords and key phrases carefully

You need to make full use of keywords and key phrases in every aspect of your blog post. That includes the title of the post, the teaser paragraph, the body of the post, and the call-to-action. You will need to choose rich keywords and key phrases that really get the person who is searching for what you offer as quickly as possible. It is not only that you want to attract just anyone. You want to attract the right people, the people who are a part of your target audience. With the right keywords and key phrases, you can make that happen.

Conclusion

If you feel that your blog posts are not drawing people the way that you want them to, the advice that is given here should help you a lot. It is a simple formula (approach) and it should help you each and every time that you write a new blog post. As always, your writing must establish an emotional connection with your readers. If they have experienced what you experienced, you will be able to connect with the other person on a deep level. If you write content that resonates, it will go way beyond the person who initially reads it. It will be shared with many others as well and it will resonate with them as well.
