The Attributes of a Successful Blogger

Content is king! Of course, that means that great content is king, not just any content. When you write a blog for your business (or have someone else write it for you), you have something very specific in mind. You are certainly not writing in any random fashion. Hopefully, you will enjoy the writing; however, that doesn’t mean that the writing is without meaningful purpose.

Your motivation for writing

The success that you attain through your writing depends on how you say what you want to say. You probably understand very well that the way in which you communicate makes all of the difference in the world. Your writing is a tool (in a profound sense) to get more and more people to pay attention to what you are offering and to interact with you. Once that happens, you can engage those people and deepen and solidify the relationship that you have started to build with them. Eventually (hopefully), that will lead to their becoming loyal clients who tell other people about how amazing your brand and your business are.

There are many ways to leverage great writing. In fact, if you have your eye on the ultimate prize (money), that is okay as long as that is not your only focus. The truth is that there are many other goals that you will need to accomplish before you get to the point where you are going to be paid for your products and/or services.

When it comes to blogs, there are several qualities that you want to come through clearly in your writing. If you make sure to convey certain qualities in your blogs, people will react to those and you will really touch them on a human level.

Being honest: Your writing should be honest. Even if you don’t agree with this, you have no choice when it comes to honest writing because people always know when you are not being honest. In fact, you need to go the distance when it comes to honesty. You will want to state what you are trying to accomplish with your blog right at the beginning. That will probably intrigue the other person enough to want to keep on reading. If you can’t accomplish that, there is nowhere to go beyond that. If your writing is honest, it is a reflection on who you are as a person and as a business owner. People want to do business with people who are honest. It is common sense. Of course, it really goes way beyond that.

If you are honest in your writing, people will assume that you are an honest person. That means that eventually, they will want to do business with you. One important thing to remember is that when you are writing, always write in first person. The other person will perceive you as more honest if you use that approach.

Letting your passion shine through: Passion in your writing is an essential element. the fact is that human beings respond to other human beings based on emotions. If you are passionate about something, it will come through and the other person will react to what you are saying and how you are feeling. On the other hand, if you are not passionate about a particular subject, your reader will be able to sense that as well.

Your writing should not only convey that you are passionate about whatever you are discussing but it should also make it clear to the other person that you are excited to be able to help that person and to solve his or her problem. The WIIFM (What’s In It For Me?) concept should come through loud and clear. You need to let the other person know that you are much more interested in meeting the needs and wants of the other person than satisfying your own needs and wants.

Consistency is critical: People need to be able to count on your writing and on your presence. Not only do you need to write content that delivers the same qualities each time but you also need to deliver that content on the same days and at the same times every week. That is how you are going to build a relationship with the other person. The more top-quality content you share with the other person, the more that person will come to rely on being able to access your content and he or she will look forward to reading what you are sharing every week.

Build trust with the other person: When it comes to the actual writing, you need to ensure that the information that you are sharing is information that has credibility. You need to back up your information with facts and reliable sources need to support whatever you are writing.

Trust is another extremely important part of a successful business. You need to instill trust in the other person so that your relationship with him or her can flourish. Of course, it goes without saying that your readers need to trust what you are writing, which, of course, goes beyond that to trusting you and your business as well.

Take advantage of the available gifts: A successful blog takes advantage of your strengths. You will want to highlight what you are capable of doing and your strengths and positive attributes in ways that allow our reader to understand your value and how you can help the other person in profound ways. This is an opportunity for you to be as creative as you can.

The one thing that you can’t do is to toot your own horn. Your message must come through in other ways that are more subtle. However, there is no doubt that you can build a meaningful relationship that will stand the test of time and that will be mutually beneficial.

Make sure that you are approachable: Approachability is extremely important. If the other person feels that your door is never open, he or she will not stick around for too long. You need to make the other person feel that his or her needs are extremely important to you and that their opinions matter to you and to your brand. This is not only critical as you are building your relationship. It is critical for the duration of your relationship as well.

Make sure that the other person understands that you are human too: If the other person doesn’t fee that you have the same human qualities that he or she has, it will not be possible for that person to relate to you (and vice versa). You need to connect with the other person on an emotional level. The reality is that people don’t buy from other people without that emotional connection.

Always be generous: When it comes to your blog writing, it is important for you to always keep the other person in mind. After all, you are not working in a silo. You are in a world full of other people. Make sure that you think about what the other person wants and needs and do everything in your power to help the other person, in every way that you can. Part of being generous means that you offer him or her incentives (contests, surveys, free eBooks, etc). You want to make this fun and exciting, as well as educational and valuable.

Conclusion

Content is king and you are doing an amazing job of sharing incredible content with your online connections. Your blog will give you so much in return if you do it properly. It will increase your online visibility, strengthen your online presence, and boost your professional reputation. Your blog will eventually get you more and more top-notch clients. Blogs equal success. However, it is very important that you keep the writing fresh and compelling every time you write something. You are doing a great job with the writing but you will be even better with more experience.
