Unfortunately, at this time of year, there is a huge volume of Emails that are being sent out, which makes it even more challenging than usual to get your  Emails read.

    When you consider your content, you shouldn’t forget your call-to-action (CTA). Your CTA should be precise and it should communicate the fact that you want your target audience members to do whatever you are asking them to do sooner rather than later.

    Human beings react more quickly when they think that they don’t have a lot of time to accomplish whatever it is that they are being tasked with doing. Of course, your Emails should always be customized to the recipient and they should feel personal enough so that the recipient feels inclined to respond or to take some sort of action.

  • The structure of your CTA: The physical size of your CTA is important in terms of the real estate of the entire Email. You don’t want your CTA to be so small that it gets lost. However, at the same time, you don’t want it to be so large that it crowds the copy. Also, you will want to place your CTA strategically. You want to make sure that your recipients don’t miss seeing it considering how important it is for your business. Additionally, it is important for you to understand that you are not necessarily limited to using it once per Email. You can use it a few times (strategically placed, of course) as long as you don’t clutter your Email with your CTAs.

    It is a good idea to ensure that your CTA are effective by testing them in advance of your Email blast. You can send them to a small number of recipients to see if your CTAs are visible to them and if they react to them in the way that you hope they will.

  • Choose your subject line very carefully: The words that you choose for your subject line are critical to the success of your Email campaign. You should give a lot of thought to the most appropriate keywords and key phrases. You shouldn’t use hashtags in your subject line because they are ineffective and they may affect how much people engage.

    The rule of clear and concise definitely applies to your subject line as well. Your recipients will be looking very quickly at the subject line so you want to make sure that they understand your Email’s topic at a very quick glance. People don’t have the time or the patience nowadays and you need to put yourself in their shoes.

  • Choose your schedule very carefully: It is a fact that your Emails will be opened and read more on certain days and at certain times. For example, you should probably avoid sending Emails on Mondays. People are going through all sorts of things on Monday. It will be worth it for you to wait until Tuesday so that you have a better chance of your Emails being read.

  • Give your recipients a choice: You should give your recipients a choice about whether they want to opt-in or opt-out (opt-out if they have already opted in). If you show that you are giving your recipients options, that means that you are demonstrating how reasonable and open-minded you are. That may very well affect your unsubscribe rate. It also goes a long way to building solid relationships with your recipients.
