Making Yourself Heard Above the Social Media Buzz
Social media is buzzing all over the place and it isn’t buzzing quietly. It is making a great deal of noise and it has been making a lot of noise pretty much since the beginning. Noise can be good but you need to find a way to make yourself and your business heard above all of that noise.
What can you do to make that happen?
In a climate that is fraught with many business people doing what you do and saying what you say, you need to find a way to make you and your business stand above the rest and really capture the attention of people who are in need of the products and/or services that you offer. If you can accomplish that, the sky’s the limit for you and your business. In fact, the door will open for you to reach a much larger number of people and those people will be prequalified and prescreened for you. What could be better than that? However, it is definitely safe to say that your social media marketing campaign must make as much noise as the noise that is being generated around you. However, your noise will be different noise than what other people are making. The question is, how do you go about making yourself and your business heard above all of that buzz?
-
Identify relevant discussion threads and join in as quickly as you can: When it comes to discussions on social media channels, it is often easier to join in than it would be if you were attempting to have a discussion in person. People seem more inviting and more welcoming online in a lot of cases. So, put your shyness aside and start interacting. If you have something interesting and relevant to contribute to the conversation, people will usually really want to hear what you have to say.
-
Offer an incentive to people for following an event of which you are a part: There are so many ways in which you can get people excited about what you are excited about. If you offer them something for getting involved, you will definitely get a positive response from some, if not all, of them. The incentive may be in the form of a white paper, newsletter, discount coupon, or prize. In any case, people will be interested.
-
Customize the content to fit your target audience: There is nothing more valuable than making the other person feel that you value their thoughts and opinions. You will want them to feel that you can’t progress without their input. It is that important. The time and effort that you put into that will definitely pay off because the other person will respond to you and you will get what you need from them as well as their getting what they need and want from you. With that in mind, it is very important for you to remember to ensure that your content is as appropriate for that particular audience as you can make it. The more relevant it is, the more positive responses you will receive.
- Really give the impression that you are here to stay and here to serve: Remember that it is so important for you to create a perception of indefinite presence and express clearly that your main goal is to solve the other person’s problems. Your needs and wants will have to come second. Of course, if the other person has the same goal in mind, you will both end up having your needs and wants fulfilled and everyone will be happy.
Conclusion
It is true that social media has created, continues to create, and will create (well into the future) a great deal of buzz. If you can figure out a way to stand out and be heard over the buzz, you will be able to achieve tremendous success for your business and your business will advance to the next level. Keep working those relationships and keep offering amazing things to other people. If your brand is truly amazing, people will want to hear what you have to say and they will want to be a part of what you are offering. Finding your edge and letting people know about it will empower you and make your professional presence even stronger than it was before.

We’ve even tried with a naked guitarist, but no way :
Create a buzz is a real job, some people are paid to, and it needs to have a lot of contacts who can relay your pictures quickly, and maybe you can buzz …
It’s easier to be a star with a lot of fans, to “create” a buzz …

Being at the right place right time, advertising videos and music must be syndicated DJs blogs, podcasts, contests, submitting to music licensing opportunities YouTube, Daily Motion, Vimeo, depending on your audience forum’s groups.
A buzz cannot be created without engaging with your fans .An artist has to make a connection with fans artists , should think out their projects in the mindset this is being released to the world not this is another mix tape or rushed single there’s so much out there. Quality music creates buzz on its own you have to have music that stands out period.

I have to agree with Jean, there is a lot of luck and being at the right place or time.
Many have told me ,you have to wear all the hats, which I think is crap. There is no way one person can be all things in this business. You need to surround yourself with people that have talents in marketing promotion etc That believe in what you’re doing, To get anywhere these days. But really its always been that way.
The other thing is ,there have been a few people here that are in the music business, and work for major labels and the cold fact is Capital records or any company, those people do not visit sites like Soundcloud ,Bandcamp and the rest to find new talent. They just don’t have the time and don’t care.
The internet and social media are great tools after the fact, it just doesn’t do a whole for you before the fact. There is good reasons why people that really count in this business don’t grace these pages of social media. One reason is the pool of talent is bigger then them, they don’t have the manpower to cover all basis. The other big reason is they still want the artist trying make it ,do the things to get there. Playing live, yes, create there own buzz, the artist or band has to look good , and have a great show. they need to see CD sales download sales etc. I know people doing this ,I myself do this and its still tough to get somewhere. At first your goals should be small ,then get bigger as the small ones are meant. It takes time and money. People thinking they can create wonderful pieces of music on a computer ,sitting on there ass, is sadly misinformed.
Sounds hard ,doesn’t it?? Well that’s the kind of people they are interested in, people that work hard to get there, do anything to get there. Sitting at a computer ,posting your music here and there just ain’t going to get you there. The music business hasn’t changed in 50 years despite the internet, and they never will. So you do it there way ,or find something else to do.

Its also meeting the right people face to face. People can be anybody they want on the internet, promise you all the gold on the earth, take your money and they will sleep well at night. To this day young artists wanting to make it in this business still trek to music cities, like N.Y,L.A.,and Nashville. Its about putting yourself and your dreams before anything or anyone else. Its about living in those cities when you rather be living where you’re from. Going to those cities and working your way in the circles of people where you can get somewhere. You want to be on Broadway you go to N.Y, an actor, go to L.A., or Nashville to be a writer or artist. Like I said things haven’t changed much since the internet. The scam artists went from the real world to the internet to find their next victims. Most places like Bandcamp ,Reverbnation Music xray etc. won’t do it, its still about getting your hands dirty and paying your dues. Its also possible to get some notice attending music workshops for writers and composers in your area. But again getting butt out there and having a bandpage ,together can get someone, somewhere.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

All comes down to a popularity contest. Just as it was in the sandbox, the playground, school, college, work, clubs, etc…. and for thousands of years. Social media is just the newest network wave to give the artist inexpensive control of their brand introduction and awareness. Success is in our hands more these days because of social media so now the artist can blame the music business for their shortcomings of not being a successful artist.

Excellent blog! Another thought is to do the unexpected. Surprise people, tastefully, but in a way that catches people off guard, makes them laugh, etc.
