Making the Most of Your Social Content

social-media

There is no doubt that the content that you post on your various social media platforms must be customized to a great extent. You will never be in a situation where your target audience fits into the “one size fits all” category.

The subtle differences among social media platforms

Not only is it important (and necessary) to customize your content for your particular target audience members but it is also necessary to customize your content based on the actual social media platforms of which you are a member. Clearly, your different online connections have different wants, needs, and perceptions of what they are looking for and how far they are willing to go to get what they need.

It is very important to remember that not all people are the same and you need to try to think as creatively as possible in order to come up with whatever the other person needs. Some of your success in that regard will also depend on your particular product and/or service. Some products and/or services satisfy the needs of very few, select people and others satisfy a much larger range of people. In either case, you will have to customize what you share to some extent.

Connecting with the appropriate people

Undoubtedly, you probably have tremendously longs lists of people whom you want to reach and engage in some manner. That probably also means that you have probably segmented that list in some way. You may have taken your list and split it into many smaller, more logical lists. You may even have quite a bit of overlap in your lists. With search engine optimization in mind, it is critical to your business’s success that you remember to consistently present the most appropriate content to the right people. You can’t afford to miss the mark ever if you are going to achieve the most positive results possible.

One of the main tools that you use to make that happen is your careful use of keywords and key phrases. The right ones will bring you very far indeed! Although the level of customization that we are discussing here will take quite a bit of effort and time, you will probably feel that it is well worth it when you start to see the results that you have been able to achieve. So, the big question i:

[tweetthis]How do you get your content to reach the right people?[/tweetthis]

This is exactly where your particular social media groups (within the specific social media channels that you have chosen) will come into play. If you have done it correctly and have chosen the social media groups that are truly perfect for what you are trying to achieve, you will not have to look any further to reach the right people.

Your groups will automatically give you what you need to ensure that your social content sings because those groups have been hand-picked by you and if they weren’t right for you and your business, you would no longer be a member of those particular groups.

Divide your social content

Just like you have divided your people into various organized groups, you should also consider dividing your content into customized, segmented groups. If you can manage to do that, you will be able to reach specific people much more effectively and with better results.

It is never a good idea to just throw a bunch of content at a bunch of people without any thought behind it. The reason that that is true is because you will never be able to achieve the type of results that you are hoping to achieve. If you want to reap the benefits of the work that you have done, you need to really work at positioning it in a way that is effective and relevant.

See the results of your hard work

It is never safe to assume that people will automatically welcome you and your offerings with open arms. You have to earn that position and that respect. That is exactly where the concept of the relationship comes into it. As is always the case, you need to build the relationship with the other person from the ground up. You need to earn the other person’s respect and you need to earn the other person’s trust and to get them to consider you credible and to respect and acknowledge your expertise. If you achieve all of that, you will be well on your way to eventually getting the other person to become a client at some point.

Conclusion

Your social content is an extremely powerful tool and you need to leverage it to its fullest potential. If you do that, you will be able to sit back and take advantage of the incredible results that you have been able to accomplish over and over again. However, it is important to remember that you must work hard to make that happen and you can only relax once all of the work is done. Remember to be discriminating when it comes to what you want to share and how you want to share it. With some planning and some thinking, everything will turn out just fine.

In addition to segmenting the audience and ensuring that a good majority of the members fit your target profile as referenced here, also try to remember that everyone processes information in different ways – including both verbal and visual content will help ensure the largest number of people have seen and processed your information.

I believe that one of the best ways to have your social media prowess gobbled up is to post it on sites that have authority…like LinkedIn and then to see the rash of comments that come in because of it.

Authority sites carry weight. And gaining the respect of others in your target audience on a place like LinkedIn is paramount and elevates you as a brand immediately.

A great marketing question. As part of the marketing plan there is a media plan. Your target market usually has favorite media either TV programs, magazines, websites, etc. You put together a media plan for the placement of content planned for those locations.

It’s refreshing to see someone talking about something besides “one size fits all” messages.
