Making Greater Social Media Efforts
You have some sense that you need to get involved with social media for your business. You may even have a decent understanding of why you need to get involved. However, you may not be giving it your all and that is something that has to change.
How much is enough?
Sometimes, it is not easy to understand how much is enough. When it comes to social media interactions, it is very important to understand the balance and not to do too little or too much. If you don’t interact enough, your online presence will not be as strong as it needs to be for your business. Your online presence is essential to your professional success and you really need to get out there in the most appropriate and profound way possible. It is very important to understand that your business’s success will not happen overnight. It will take a lot of time and effort but you will eventually start to see the results that you are hoping to see. It is important to understand that you should not get frustrated or discouraged to the point where you stop making the effort if you don’t see the results that you are looking for in a certain amount of time. Your time limit is not necessarily exactly the amount of time that it will take. Undoubtedly, you will start to notice a return on your investment. It may just take some time.
What you understand about social media
As it has always been, the most important aspect of your business and the aspect that will contribute the most to your business’s success is content. Content truly is king! The more valuable content you generate, the stronger your reputation will be, the greater your credibility will be, and the more other people will trust you and consider that you know what you are talking about. As is the case with anything in life, it is very important to understand that your hard work will pay off eventually; however, you need to understand that the hard work absolutely must come first. Because social media is still rather enigmatic and mysterious, it is very important that you approach it in a way that works for your business. It may be different than your approaches to other things. Only you can figure out exactly what that approach should be.
Working social media to its fullest potential
If you work hard at interacting on social media channels, you will find that you are capable of bringing your business to a whole new level. Social media adds a layer that is essential to your business’s success. Part of the reason for that is because everyone else is interacting on social media and the majority of those people have a defined social media marketing strategy. Therefore, you must have a strategy and you must interact as well. It is not like the saying about jumping off of a bridge just because everyone else is doing it. In this case, it is totally justifiable (and necessary) to get involved with social media for your business because everyone else is doing it. In fact, it is critical to your business’s success that you do so.
Conclusion
It is important not only to understand how to use social media to increase your business’s success but also to truly understand that you are going to be involved with social media for a very long time. The reason for that being the case is because it works and it will work for you and for your business. Of course, one word of caution is that you should never put all of your eggs into one social media basket. Spread it around in a way that is effective for your business. It is time to start interacting, if you haven’t started already. You will see your business’s success unfold right in front of you and it will be entirely because of your efforts. Remember, your clients

I agree with @martin, you have to continually stay active and engaged with customers. You cant expect to open a Twitter account and start rolling in the leads. If you have 20 customers tweeting daily, you could easily have 20 tweets per day.

Terrific question, though I would imagine you are going to find that the answers vary as much as the entrepreneur and the type of business. My business (purchased less than a year ago after a long stint in corporate marketing/PR/sales) is a very personal one. Operating in a small community, we rely heavily on personal connections to our customers, whether it be through their children’s educational/sports activities, local community events, etc. Providing through social media a chance for a dialogue with our customers is almost as important as telling them what is being served at our cafe. Problem for me is having enough warm bodies to help me create and monitor that dialogue. I am posting mostly Facebook right now but know that I need to use Pinterest, Instagram and Twitter a lot more extensively. For my business, that is my New Year’s resolution. Would love to hear more from others.

The answer is always “Your target audience”. And more specifically, your target audience engaging on the specific social network. it will take a lot of trial and error, surveys, interaction, but you can get there a little faster by analyzing them more effectively.
I like to use the buyer persona canvas created by Tony Zambito. I like to use it because it forces me to understand motivations, industry trends, organizational trends, personal influences

I think the amount of social media varies with product/service and the needs of your target audience. A healthy schedule will include 3-5 updates daily.

I know I (slightly) disagreed with you on one of your other posts but here you are dead right. Social media is free and available easily even for the most digitally challenged of us. Use all those sites. A good idea is to use headliner as you can blog and post on all your sites at the same time.

I think you find out as you start making activity, if you post once a day and get feedback, comments, reposts, etc. that may be enough, it may take people doing 10 times that amount to get interaction.
