Continuing to Grow Your Online Traffic

Everyone understands how important search engine optimization (SEO) is when it comes to getting people to notice you online. However, your approach should always be people centric and keeping their needs in mind will allow you to keep them interested.

This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t concern yourself with SEO and appearing at the top of the search engine page when people are looking for you. Of course, that is extremely important when it comes to your professional success as well. The driving principle should always be WIIFM (What’s In It For Me?) when it comes to interacting with your clients and prospective clients. In other words, your number one concern should always be how you are able to solve the other person’s problems. If you are able to accomplish that, you will succeed at establishing a relationship with the other person that is based on trust, credibility, and mutual benefit.

While volume of traffic is very important (the greater your number of visitors, the greater your potential for increasing business), the quality of traffic is equally important. You owe it to your audience to consider their needs and wants before your own. It is important to understand that if you are able to do that, your needs and wants will be taken care of as well.

There are many different ways in which you can hold onto your online traffic:

Post relevant content

It is critical that your content is compelling and extremely well written. Your article title, teaser paragraph, and the first link that appears must be totally connected to how you are represented when people search for you online. If that is not the case, you will not achieve results that are as positive as you had hoped for. You  should keep in mind how important it is to choose quality over quantity. Of course, the number are important but not at the cost of the quality of your visitors.

Effective keywords and key phrases

It is very important to remember to have a good mix of effective keywords and key phrases. Using the same ones over and over again will not only not increase traffic but it will also cause the traffic that you do have to go away. That is the last thing that you need. The more interesting you make your keywords and key phrases, the more enticing they will be to your online visitors and they will be compelled to check out your content over and over again. You will be building a relationship of excitement and stimulation with them.

PDFs are not a good thing

When it comes to online content, pdfs don’t serve a great purpose. They are far more effective if they are in HTML format. pdfs serve a purpose; however, they have certain limitations that are not great. First of all, your visitors are not able to navigate throughout a pdf in the same way that they can navigate through an HTML page. Additionally, links generally don’t function in a pdf document. It is critical that you don’t limit your visitor’s experience in this way when it is so easy to provide them with HTML documents. If you do insist on using pdf documents, it is important for you to insert a link to your homepage or at least your most common website page in the footer of each of your pdf pages.

Make sure that your links are in tact

It is extremely important that the links that you provide are working. There is really no excuse for broken links. If you consistently monitor your content, you will be able to tell if everything is in order.

Conclusion

There are so many ways that you can hold onto your online traffic. The fundamental principle underneath it all is that you need to make your online connections understand how important they are to you and your business and that your main objective is to solve whichever issues they are dealing with. It has to be about them rather than about you. A wonderful way to accomplish this is through content. Blog articles, for example, have the potential to make a very large impact on your readers. In fact, the more you intrigue them, the more loyal they will become to you and your business.
